The Rise of Multi-Generational Homes: A Global Housing Revolution

Multiplex housing and multi-generational living are becoming more popular as families look for affordable solutions. In cities like Vancouver, building multiple units on a single lot helps reduce costs while maintaining independence. In Delta, one family converted a single home into four units, achieving financial stability and shared resources. With lot stratification now easier, more families are following suit. I’m also working on a project designing two duplexes with parking, an elevator, shared outdoor space, and a rooftop flex area. Recent zoning changes and tax incentives in BC have made multiplexes more viable. They lower costs, promote sustainability, and strengthen family connections.
